Get the basics down on another car, then you'll only mildly trash your brand new clutch. Now the lower the gear the stronger it is and the SLOWER it is.If the car roars like it's tired, shift up.Now why would you ever do that.

Let's say u need to accel hard to go thur a yellow light, ur in 3rd gear, u look and u see ur at 55 mph, so u decide to let the car rest so u shove it into 5th directly.Engine is to move the car forward, not to stop it. The day i bought my car was the 3rd time I drove stick, and I drove it home during rush hour without stalling once. It wasn't very smooth, but it was definitely exciting.

Basically, other than some teaching from my dad, I learned how to drive my car just from this site and a little practice. It used to be that somebody had to teach you to drive a car. My grandparents learned from someone, my parents learned from someone, etc. Buy a beater, learn to drive it. Schools that teach manual are hard to find. There's only one driving school that teaches stick in maybe 100 mile radius from where I live. I tried calling two dozen schools but none (!) had cars outfitted with manual transmissions.
