Bryant Heating and Cooling Systems have been manufacturing durable and reliable furnaces for over 100 years, and they’re known for their great warranties and their commitment to making highly energy-efficient furnaces. Today you’ll learn how to get the most from your Bryant furnace, including basic maintenance tasks and troubleshooting tips.

Replacing a Bryant Furnace Filter Dirty air filters can negatively impact the air quality in your house and reduce the life expectancy of your furnace. For one thing, when your furnace air filter gets dirty, it will be less effective and allow more dirt and contaminants into the air. Dirty filters make the furnace less efficient while also making it work harder, and this can increase energy bills and maintenance and repair costs. Luckily, you can help keep your furnace working optimally by replacing the filters monthly during the heating season. Here’s how: Check your owner’s manual to find out the right type of replacement filter Slide open or remove the furnace’s access panel Locate the filter, which is typically near the cold air intake Slide out the old filter Position the new filter using the arrows and slide it into place Replace or close the access panel What’s Wrong With Your Bryant Furnace. Remember to always turn your furnace completely off before opening it up to look around or attempt any fix. Is your furnace. The problem might be your. What's wrong? How you can fix it: Not heating. Try resetting your furnace’s circuit breaker. If it has blown, you will need to replace it. Igniter The furnace’s igniter might either be cracked or faulty. Check the part for cracks, if it is then replace the igniter. If it isn’t cracked, use a multimeter to test for continuity. Cycling irregularly. Thermostat Your thermostat might be adjusting incorrectly, causing the furnace to cycle on and off too often. If your thermostat has an adjustable calibration scale, adjust the heat anticipator. If this does not stabilize the unit, you may have to replace the thermostat. Not blowing hot air. Blower Motor Your blower motor may have completely burnt out. If this doesn’t seem to be the case, then the connecting belt may have simply broken. Test to see if power is reaching the motor. If it does, but isn’t running, the motor has likely failed.
{-Variable.fc_1_url-

If the motor runs but air doesn’t move, the connecting belt has probably broken. You’ll have to replace the belt. Blowing too much air. Control Board The control board regulates the amount of voltage that reaches each functioning part. If the relay that controls the blower motor has failed, it will continually send voltage to the motor. Replace the control board. Thermostat The contact that controls the blower motor on your thermostat may be stuck closed, causing the blower motor to run continuously. Use a multimeter to check for continuity. If it appears the thermostat is the issue, replace it. Leaking water? Drain Pipe Starting and then stopping shortly after. Flame Sensor Your furnace’s flame sensor monitors the burner, detecting whether a flame is present. If it is either defective or dirty, it will not be able to detect a flame. If dirty, clean the sensor using a fine abrasive pad. If faulty, replace the flame sensor. Bryant Furnace Error Codes Like many furnace manufacturers, Bryant uses flashing LED lights to indicate error codes that can give you an idea of what’s wrong with your furnace when it’s not functioning properly. The short flashes indicate the first digit of the two-digit code, and the long flashes indicate the second digit. Here’s are some common error codes: Bryant Error Code What this means Error codes 12 and 44 There's a fault with the blower calibration Error Code 13 Problem with the limit switch being tripped (furnace will auto reset after three hours) Error Code 14 Ignition problem (control will auto reset after three hours) Error Code 23 Problem with the blower airflow selection Error Code 34 The ignition process isn't working properly Error Code 41 The blower isn't operating at the right revolutions per minute Error Code 43 There's a fault with the pressure switch calibration Error Code 45 Lockout because of a problem with the control circuitry (furnace will auto reset after an hour) When Should You Call A Professional.

While you can troubleshoot a number of issues on your own, you may want to contact a trained furnace technician should you be experiencing certain issues with your Bryant unit. If after your troubleshooting your furnace still isn’t producing any heat, is leaking or dripping, or is making strange noises (gurgling, banging, whistling, etc.), there might be some broken internal components within your unit. In this case, you will want to contact a trained technician to service your Bryant furnace. Also, if you notice that your furnace is continuously switching itself off and on, you may want to call a technician. This may be a sign that something is not circulating properly within your furnace, possibly tripping up the sensors. Who Should You Call. Knowing where to go for help with your furnace is important in winter because you don’t want to go long without heat in the middle of a cold snap. But with so many HVAC companies out there, it can be tough to know who to trust and who to hire. While online reviews can help point you in the right direction, they’re also biased and aren’t always accurate. For that reason, we created an independent HVAC contractor certification program that can help you find the right repair company when you need it. Bryant’s Warranty Coverage When something does go wrong with your Bryant furnace, there’s a good chance it might be covered under warranty, especially if your furnace is only a few years old. As long as you register your furnace within 90 days of installation, your system will be covered by a 10-year standard parts limited warranty. Even unregistered furnaces are still covered for five years. It has in-depth information about AC performance, size, efficiency and how these factors allow you to choose the right AC for your climate and indoor comfort preferences. This Bryant central AC review is comprehensive, including model comparisons, costs for the equipment and installation, Bryant air conditioner pros and cons and more. Getting a Good AC Properly Installed Submitted Prices by Visitors 2019-2020 How to Get the Best Bryant Air Conditioner Prices. The residential HVAC industry has consolidated to the point there are only 7 or 8 players. Together, they make close to 30 brands, or 30 pieces of residential AC pie. UTC owns 8 pieces of the pie. Did you know? Bryant and Carrier air conditioner models are the same equipment with a different cabinet and name badge and a price difference of 5 to 10. Bryant is the more affordable brand.

UTC takes this approach to give consumers perceived options and to garner a larger total market share. Local dealers are prohibited from carrying both brands. Pro Tip: Experience Counts Should you automatically choose Bryant over Carrier. No, because the quality of installation is so important. Our recommendation is to get estimates on both brands and choose the installer you think will do the best job based on experience and customer reviews. We’d rather spend 10 more and get an AC installed properly. But then again, the Bryant dealer might be just as experienced or more so, and then take the savings. There’s more below about who to select to install a Bryant AC including a discussion of Bryant Factory Authorized Dealers and dealers with NATE-certified technicians. The diverse lineup includes single-stage, two-stage, variable capacity and newer, unique 5-stage models. See Energy Management for details on single-stage and staged AC options and how they affect efficiency and climate control. WiFi controls, communicating technology and a complete range of accessory equipment such as air cleaners, ventilators and moisture control components are available. Bryant typically places in the top 10 among brands in consumer satisfaction and durability. However, there are a few disadvantages, and those are discussed too. Here’s an overview table before getting into details. In fact, we like the way Bryant organizes it so well, we’ve used the template for other brands. 1. Energy Management Homeowners are demanding better efficiency as a means of reducing energy use and cost. It’s good for the environment and for the wallet. Bryant still makes entry-level units too. The table above shows all models. The unit’s compressor is the most significant component determining efficiency. It affects indoor temperature balance and dehumidification, and those issues are discussed later in this Bryant AC review and price guide.

Here are Bryant compressor options from lowest to highest performance. Equipment cost is low, operating costs are higher, because efficiency is poor, especially in the entry-level models. 2-stage: 4 models are built with 2-stage compressors. The stages are 65 and 100 capacity. The purpose is to run at the lower stage whenever possible to be more energy efficient. Unless the outside temperatures climb quickly or you turn down the thermostat by several degrees, the unit should keep up with cooling on the low stage. We first noticed the 5-stage design with Heil, and at this point it is unique to UTC brands. The lower capacity an AC runs at while maintaining the temperature you want, the more efficient it is. There are lower-capacity options with this unit than single-stage and two-stage models. Variable capacity: Aka variable speed, the 180C is called the Bryant Evolution Extreme. It has an inverter-driven compressor that functions like cruise control. The compressor can run at almost any capacity from 25 and up, and it will modulate in increments of less than 1 to keep the temperature right where you want it. Little energy is wasted, and the efficiency is Bryant’s best. 2. Comfort Management The compressor is also key to indoor climate control and comfort such as temperature balance and humidity control. Compressors: As with efficiency, single-stage compressors offer the least control over the indoor environment. AC cycles are shorter and “full blast,” and then the unit shuts off. This causes slight temperature swings, which might be noticeable, and less dehumidification. Two-stage models are better, but not as good as the 5-stage AC. Neither can match the climate control of the variable speed unit. Inverter-type compressors use long, low-speed cycles when possible to produce the best temperature balance. And they keep air moving nearly continuously over the indoor coil, where moisture from the air is condensed out of the air in your home and drained away.
