The water flow setting is how much cold water is mixed in with the hot water, not how much hot water it is releasing. Since the piping of your old tank is going to be different and since this is supposed to have a bigger gas pipe inlet, expect a lot of work installing it. The biggest problem might be the vent: if you mount it on a wall where the old tank was, the vent can't go straight up and use the old vent hole. You have to also order the hard-to-find elbow pipe. I live near Atlanta, so my winter temperatures are not too low. I can imagine problems if the inlet water is really cold like in the northern states. Although it was installed by a plumber- it does not operate well at all. We have had to turn the thermostat up really high to get any heat at all. These problems have existed from day one and there are only 2 of us in the house. No help from the manufacturer either. We have troubleshot everything that is supposed to fix this known problem, but nothing has worked. A huge disappointment. Please try again later. Macs R We 2.

0 out of 5 stars Installation wasn't tough, and hot water flow was adequate for a small home in our warm climate. I bought this unit because its piezo ignition feature would guarantee us hot water even if power to the home went out. There were battery-driven units, but I figured if you had a choice between having to change batteries regularly or not, why sign up. Trouble is, the turbine in the ignitor is insanely sensitive to small particles of grit and rust, which jam it and shut down the heater. I have had to disassemble and clean this turbine three times in the past year (twice in the past three weeks) which is a messy job (the plumbing attachments on the bottom of the unit ensure that all spilled water is generously dispersed over the floor). This is despite my having put a whole-house grit filter on the water feed after the first instance. Right now, changing batteries looks a lot more attractive. I wouldn't buy this unit again. The instructions are completely unclear on this step, and it's possible to install the rotor reversed and have it work, at least for a little while. Once I installed the rotor in the proper direction, I have had no more issues with this heater. I'd like to upgrade my review to four stars, but it appears that it's no longer editable. The basic point stands: don't install this heater without a grit filter on your water system. Please try again later. Please try again later. Bobby 3.0 out of 5 stars For instance, the burners go out in the winter during use (very unpleasant while taking a shower). Remedy.turn the water flow knob clockwise, all-the-way to lowest flow setting - while keeping the temperature control knob (flame) counter clockwise to highest setting.problem solved - constant hot water. I never touch or adjust the temperature control knob because, for some reason, this unit also adjusts the flame with the water flow knob (odd?).

This unit kept constant tension between my wife and I (she did not like her showers suddenly turning cold). I had to save face by getting a deeper understanding of the engineering of this unit. Please try again later. Please try again later. Jason Dugas 2.0 out of 5 stars They are problematic as most reviewers have written. This problem lies in their complexity which is way more so than traditional tank water heaters. For some time my unit intermittently failed to ignite due to what I believe was low water pressure. Thereafter, my municipal utility district upgraded to a 750 kilo-gallon water tower which substantially increased our community's water pressure. Then it started going on the fritz again, failing to even spark. I found the following write up on another website and investigated mine to find that it was precisely the same problem. First disconnect the wire connector at the hydogenerator and check the voltage while water is running. The manual says you should read 1.6 VAC (I read 2.5 VAC). Make sure your voltage reader is on AC, not DC. To check it, disconnect the other wire connector that is on the black wire coming from the hydrogenerator that is closer to the ignition unit. Then with the water running, stick a small screwdriver in the male plug side to short the two wires in order to bypass the microswitch (per Bosch tech support instructions). You should now here clicking and see the unit work. This is what happened with me and tech support said I needed to order a new microswitch and gave me a part number and telephone. But don't stop reading here. You can see the microswitch when looking up at the underneath of the unit. It's a small white 1x1 inch box-like shape held by 1 screw. So you can mess up when putting it in. Don't bump it. It can easily get out of its working range of motion, which is why mine stopped working: it was a bad design to use this type switch in this application.

It prevents clicking if there is no supply gas, so it is not needed (you can electrically bypass it with a splice) if everything else is working fine. But don't blame me if you do this and for some reason it ruins the more expensive ignition unit. The microswitch is turned on by the pushrod when the pushrod leaves it's default position. The the pushrod moves only about 2 to 3 mm when you turn on the water. You can see the pushrod when you unscrew the microswitch, and you can watch it move. The problem is that the microswitch mounting is not precise enough for the small pushrod movement and the pushrod's default position can change with age of the diaphragm or change in the grease. Please try again later. Had problems frequently with the main burners not coming on even with adequate flow through the heater. The construction is flimsy to say the least. The knobs in the front on the heater for controling flow and temperature keep popping off. You lose quite a bit of control over your water temperature in the shower, if you turn it down too much the burners cut off and your hot shower converts into cold shower instantly. Recently it quit working all together. I serviced the water valve, gas valve, turbine, cleaned filters, everything that their servic bulletins say, still no hot water. Bosch has the WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. Each phone call will last over an hour with 55 minutes of you being put on hold. If you are not a handyman and mechanically inclined you will not be able to follow the instructions. After ordering the parts at ridiculously high price they sent me the wrong parts. Incidentally my microswitch was just fine and it did not need replacement at all. Replaced the electro valve and it still dosen't work. If you want to be green and save energy just take cold showers and bypass this piece of scrape metal altogether.

I thought Bosch made quality products, I am extremely disappointed. Please try again later. Please try again later. A St. Augustinian 4.0 out of 5 stars If one realizes that the left knob is attached to the gas valve and the right to the water valve, it becomes clear that the left knob controls gas flow and the right knob water flow. At any setting of the left (gas flow) knob a high water flow rate decreases the water temp (the water is in the boiler a shorter time -duh) and for any right (flow) knob setting increasing the gas flow increases the waster temp. There are many complaints with Aquastar tankless heaters of the water going from hot to cold during a shower. This is because the hot water flow drops below the rate needed to keep the gas flowing; the heater cuts off. I have avoided this problem by setting the right (water flow) knob to a high flow rate (counterclockwise), which keeps the heater on, and setting the left (gas) knob so that a comfortable shower water temperature requires setting the shower faucet valve for mostly hot water. Because the hot water flow is high, the heater stays on. Our first Bosch, a model 125, was ignited by two D cell batteries. It came on with no water flow in the middle of the night, boiled and exploded. I figure that the hydrogenerator ignition cannot generate without flow, so we ought to be safe. I finally had to do that job myself, which proved to be not too difficult. Please try again later. Please try again later. J. Vanore 1.0 out of 5 stars After 90 minutes of following the trouble-shooting points in the owner's manual, the plumber suggested I get a new Bosch from Lowe's or go without hot water. Two hours later, the exact same malfunction occurred with the second Bosch. After one hour on the phone with the Bosch techs (who merely had the plumber go over all the same trouble-shooting points again), the technical people suggested replacement, not knowing of course, that this had already been done.

I then ordered a Rheem tankless heater and went without hot water for two days. The Rheem arrived, was installed, worked from the very first try, and there has not been one problem with it. My plumber has declared that he will NEVER install another Bosch tankless water heater for any of his customers. Bosch obviously has some serious design and quality flaws. Please try again later. Please try again later. J. Garner 3736 5.0 out of 5 stars Please try again later. Please try again later. David W. Kelley 1.0 out of 5 stars Now after 2 years of use, it will not produce (or ignite) any hot water. Do yourself a favor and but ANY OTHER BRAND.I wish I could give it a negative star rating, because it deserves it. Even though I installed it, I had a specialized Tankless plumber installer check it out.Check other Bosch reviews, I read where Bosch is giving the tankless industry a bad name. Please try again later. Please try again later. Kasey 1.0 out of 5 stars To get another tank, the plumber would have had to increase the size of the gas outlet, or increase the size of the gas inlet. Bosch recommended I upgrade to the 520 HN NG which I did. When asked about them not supporting their previous tank designs and leaving the customer holding the bag, their response was it's not their responsibility. They offered the option to the plumber to use bushings, which was against their code, and it would void my warranty. After exhausting all options, replacing the unit and running the additional gas line was the best option, but for anyone who's thinking about getting a Bosch unit, get any other tankless unit. The customer support was also bad. They offer suggestions like they're spinning a wheel at your cost. Please try again later. Please try again later. Randy Ward 1.0 out of 5 stars I experienced many of the same problems as described in the other review.

Had to go back and forth between four stores, Lowes, Home Depot, and two local hardware stores to get all of the necessary parts to change out venting and move the gas and water lines. The pilot light has notoriously not lit reliably. I had to cycle water on probably 100 times to finally get it to light the first time. Now almost two weeks later, I can get the pilot to light maybe half of the time - even with lots of cycling. I really hate cold showers!! I called customer service (only open M-F 8-5 eastern - screws all of us on west coast or who have problems on the weekend, especially since they will not help anyone who actually gets through after 4:30 - and yes, their clocks are at least 10 minutes fast according to my computer and cell phone). They would not help me because I got through at 1:40 pacific time. Yes, they answered and told me they would not patch me through because they were only going to help people who got through before 4:30 their time, according to their clocks, regardless of how long they had you on hold. If they don't answer by my guess 4:00 eastern, just hang up. They will refuse help you even if they do answer. Terrible customer support. Run from this product. Please try again later. Thorigol 5.0 out of 5 stars The display conveniently reads your set temp when you are changing it and then auto switches to display the current internal temp. This unit has more features at a better price than other similar size units on amazon. A note to those who complain it doesn't get hot enough: the KW rating determines how much heat you get - don't blame the heater if you didn't buy a big enough one. This unit at 5.5KW requires 10 gauge wire and a 30 Amp circuit which worked out well for me and is enough for a kitchen sink.Kitchen sink was on the opposite side of a large house from the rest of my hot water needs.
I abandonded the existing hot water line and with a little work now the water gets hot quick. It was a bit of a project to get 220v power all setup from 12gage wire, a 30 amp double pole breaker but after all the setup is done you at least know its going to be what you need. This can definitely get as hot as you desire at 1.5 gallons a min in my kitchen sink.I mounted under the building near shower and remote works through the floor. Very satisfied with this purchase. May even install for my home once it's done. You must hook heater to a 30amp double pole breaker or you won't be happy with the results. Heated 70 degree water to 130 degrees in seconds. However, if the flow is reduced (considerable), the heater will build the water temp accordingly. The bottom line is the unit is unusable. There are some reviews, like usual, that give this product some false information. I will start with the water connections. Nothing strange or hard to find concerning these. One of the top reviewers discussed this already and even posted a picture of how he used the coupling and nipple. The electrical connections could not be any simpler either. White, Black, Green. The black and white will be your hots. The naked goes to ground and your green ground wire. Most any half decent diyer can handle this installation with ease. They really could not have made it much simpler to install, but you have to remember when reading any review on anything, there will be several reviewers who blame the product on their own stupidity. If you can't figure out how to hook this up, then you will not have any better luck with any other heater. You better just get plumber and give up your diy career. I am very satisfied with the heat. I am using it for a sink, but I could also use this for a shower. I know it says it isn't for showers, but I really think it would work just fine for most people.
I do want to mention that right now it is in the 80's here, so it is possible when it gets colder it probably won't be as hot as it is now, but for a sink in a shop it will still be better than the ice cold water I had last winter. The unit itself seems very sturdy and well made. It does not look cheap at all, like I thought it might. The wires are copper and it has a nice sturdy feel. It is heavier than I expected, not light weight and fragile like I was worried it could be. I am really impressed with this unit. Looking through reviews and seeing how the company responds to customers also gives me a good feeling. They seem like they really want to stand behind their product, which is becoming rarer and rarer here in the states now days. My conclusion is that this is an easy to install heater. It appears to be very good quality. The customer service appears to be there. It is one of the least expensive heaters out there and with better reviews than the more expensive ones. At present I can not speak for longevity, but from everything I have seen, I excpect to get my money's worth out of this product! It is located under the kitchen cabinet where the old tank was. It was simple to installed. It hangs on the wall with brakets provided. Instruccions say that u need a ground wire. I didnt have a ground wire, its an old building, but i grounded it to one of the water copper lines that goes into the ground with a clamp. In my case the kitchen sink its very short distance, 10 feet or so, and the water gets enough hot. Then the pedicure bowl its about 20 feet away and it gets warm enough but not as hot as the kitchen. Of course if u dont run the water at full blast it will get hotter. I ran the pedicure bowl for about a minute and water was warm enough constanly. The unit looks and feels great. Who knows how long it will last but for now it works perfectly fine.

The first one didnt work neither. I dont know what to do, it is so frustrating!!! Barcode is clean it’s besn cleaned through Any suggestions to why it’s not pipping hot? Happens in both of our machines. Tassimo sent replacement discs which are also exploding. Obviously a faulty disc production. Tassimo has no helpful response. Any suggestions? It happened a few times but this last time the lid has jammed and I can't get it open. We have descaled twice and cleaned bar code reader. Anyone know of a permanent fix. Coffee t-disc work fine just the milk is the problem. Thanks Machine stops cycle and can't get the lid up without a lot of force. Other discs work fine. I've cleaned, descaled, etc., but you can hear the plastic pod expanding. After running the disc, I compared to others and see more pressure needed to push through an empty milk disc than one of the others. The cup icon is just static and no noise, nothing is coming on from the machine. Its been cleaned etc but nothing.I had two packs of Costa Latte in which the Milk disk would not work at all, you would put one in the machine would make some weird noises and eventually start flashing two red lights, the only way of getting the lid open was to use a bit force at which point the milk sprayed all over the place. I reported it to Tassimo and was sent ?10 worth of vouchers to cover the two wasted packs. I have just had the same thing re-occur on another pack, contemplating reporting this to them as well as these things are not cheap and it would appear there is a problem with some of the disks. The stuck 2 day old milk started to flow out along with built up grinds and i kept hot water flowing a good 10 minutes. I righted tje machine on a towel on counter to drain out water then plugged in, filled water container, set back inside sink and turned on power --- turned on off several times and held down the brew button. It worked! It cycled spewing more stuff and unlocked.
I then took out removable parts soaked to clean, UNPLUGGED and turned upside down over sink again and flushed inside with hot sink water and cleaned barcode reader. After reassembling, I plugged back in set it inside sink and turned on power for a trial run and as soon as I did it just pulled water through and up like a fountain with lid open and no disk and no heated water. It made a mess, just running water, not heating, not stopping So I would power down, open top (not locking anymore - progress!) make sure barcode reader was clean, put same used tdisk back in, same mess, repeatabout 10 times. Then put in the cleaning disk and it started responding to that ok, so I put in the old (cleaned) empty milk disk that had been stuck for 2 days and HELLO TASSIE.Either they explode or do not work properly. I have wasted 3 packs of the milk and I know that it isn't the machine as I have had 3 machines in a few days. My first was still in guarantee. All other discs work, i.e. cappuccino, americano, chocolate and creamers. The last 2 machines were brand new but because of the exploding milk one was ruined. I dare not use anymore of this batch of dodgy milk and am sending it back to the suppliers. Which they have asked me to do. Don't be fooled into thinking it is the machine needing cleaning, my last 2 as I said were brand new. This was a Costa pack not sure if Kenco would be as bad. Hope this helps. I’ve cleaned everything again but it is still not working properly. Any suggestions? Did you resolve this. I love my Tassimo and hate to throw it away and too expensive to replace: ( I have only noticed this since using the new milk pods. Both machines have started to dispense milk but stopped suddenly and leaked milk when I opened the lid. After which, one of the machines completely locked up the lid and needed a good bit of brute force to get it open again.
