If you do still have gas supply, evident by that low hiss when you hold the pilot feeder button in (you might have to lean in close to hear it), then you need to check that the piezo is working. This is the bit which produces the spark to ignite your pilot. You will be able to see it sparking at the pilot outlet when you push the button (if you're looking in the right spot). They use this fantastic new map created by Mayfair plumbing and gasfitting.These units such as the Water Wizard and P models such as the 10P, 13P and 16P were some of the earlier models of Hot Water units which Bosch introduced to the Glenelg Hot Water market. These units are very much like an old model car, they can be pulled apart and worked on (no computers). There is always a question of fees ability of course, how old is the unit and can the parts actually be dismantled (corrosion being a big factor especially along Adelaide's coastal suburbs such as Brighton, Largs Bay and Henely Beach). Another VERY common fault with this model is it only delivers warm water. We find that 97 of the time this is related to the water section at the bottom of the unit. There are numerous delicate parts in this component of the Hot Water Service, but the main contributor to a service fault is called the diaphragm. Over many years of use this part wears out and gets splits or pin holes in the rubber. The rubber becomes brittle over time and is therefore susceptible to splitting and deforming which in turn doesn't allow the system to heat the water adequately, hence the report of warm water only or in some extreme cases not Hot Water at all. Typical faults displayed during this error is extremely hot water or freezing cold water. When a thermostat does fail it can be a sign that the system is due to be upgraded. This is because the new thermostat and labour can be quite expensive and it usually only occurs when the Hot Water Service is at the end of its life and once this part has then been replaced the likely hood of another fault showing up in the near future is quite likely.

In it's life had a new heat exchange at 9 years, the box rusted around the base and have had the pilot light going out weekly (fixed with a service). Thanks in advance. Costs to change depends on gas line and power to where the instant HWS will go. Gas line for old HWS probably not large enough.Can't be near windows where gas can enter a room, for example. If it has an exhaust fan then the distances between unit and window can be closer than those without. Ours has a fan so it wasn't as much an issue. But the line which was used for the Rheem HWS was replumbed to supply a gas fired clothes Dryer (Kleenmaid) and a Rinnai Energy Saver heater was installed so it's difficult to tell how much gas, if any is being saved. He says that his usage has dropped dramatically, from having the bottle replaced 3 monthly to almost annually. (he's single, so usage was low, anyway). Also, there were theories about low flow not turning the gas on. May be true for some units but ours doesn't matter. I turn on the tap, say to half, wait til hot water flows then back it off to a trickle. Unit stays fired up. There's a device in the unit that spins as water flows through it. That generates a signal which controls gas flow to the unit. Plumber who installed it told me that as one he was working on, the unit died and he was having problems sourcing one at the time. And in the ensuite they built in this cupboard into which the HWS went, thus taking away a lot of room that could be used more productively. Probably halve your gas bill.Will do it wherever we go from now on. It's a 26, I think it's a 26e. It needs a power point. It's about four meters away from the bathroom, but about 8 meters and 13 meters respectively from the laundry and kitchen. The reason I know the model number is that I've complained to both Bosch and the plumber and they've both come out and said it's ok. It's not. I've never been happy with the temperature this one serves up.

I'm not 100pc sure whether it's the actual unit or whether I've got an inappropriate one. I need a water thermometer to check the existing temperature, but I haven't got my act together to get one. Anyone know where I can borrow one. Do plumbers routinely have water thermometers that go up to about 70 degrees. It's particularly annoying not having decent hot water in the kitchen, I have to boil water every time I wash up. Seem to get a 'caning' from users.Guessing it depends on water flow available but don't know how to check that myself with acceptable accuracy. Only issue is that I should have gone for a 26 or even the newer 32 or something. The digital control panels are worth it too. I havent used the cold water tap in the shower for 12 years. Its set around 40-41 deg for my showers where the missus prefers to come out like a lobster and sets her shower temp at 43 deg!. This allows the gas through to the pilot light. If it doesn’t light, something has blocked up the injector and it needs a service. If it goes out immediately, it needs a service. This allows gas to go through to the main burner when the water is turned on. Hot water should start coming through. If it doesn’t, it means the diaphragm has perished and it will need to be replaced. They have new ones made of silicone which are awesome. Check if there’s any leak. The most important part that needs to be replaced is the gland sleeve. It is located between the gas chamber and the water chamber. If you do get water into the gas chamber, you will be up for a new hot water system. That’s why this is important to keep an eye out for. Sometimes it may not have entered the gas chamber yet, but when there’s water dripping onto the gland sleeve, over time it will stuff it up and it will need replacement. If you leave it for too long, you won’t be able to service the hot water system anymore.Now, before we adjust the temperature of the water, here’s something you should know. Therefore, the slower the water travels through the HWS, the more heat it will collect. Turn it anti-clockwise. This will allow the water to flow through the unit as fast as possible.
