So i ordered the BigSky Reverb and the Boss RV-6. And after trying both I decided that the Boss RV-6 does exactly what i need it to do. And I am using this pedals together with my Timeline Strymon. The Boss RV-6 is exactly creating the Reverb I need. I love the sound of it. And to my ears, the Reverb sound compared to the Big Sky is just fine. I am using the Boss Pedal mainly for live on stage situations. So there is no time for playing with the buttons and changing the Pedal Effect. Using this Pedal live means that I only get to use 1 setting. That would be different with the BigSky as it is a lot easier to switch between different settings. Of course, the Big Sky gives me Midi Control and just a lot more options. But for what I do the Boss is just enough. Pros: Good Boss Quality - I think it'will last for a life time. The modulation setting sounds good, no complaints there. I'm not a big spring,room, or hall user, so I can't really comment on them. The dynamic setting is also an interesting one but one I don't tend to use. It adds a delay line to your reverb, with the kind of quality delay you'd expect from Boss.

If you have room for only one delay on your board, this setting can be very useful for ambient swells and such. Where this pedal really shines is it's shimmer setting. Shimmer seems to be the in thing when it comes to reverb these days and the RV-6 beats them all for me. You can control the tone of the shimmer, clockwise gives you the classic octave up setting you'd be used to, but further counterclockwise settings give the shimmer this choir like heavenly sound that I just can't get enough of. It's this shaping of the shimmer tone (not to mention the incredible sound) that makes the RV-6 the best ambient reverb on the market at the minute. I also have to mention Thomann shipped this pedal to me on a Friday, it arrived at my door in Dublin at 7am on Tuesday. I really enjoy the reverb and delay option and the spring reverb setting is pretty good. Still tinkering with it and having fun doing so. Trying to find another is like finding a needle in a haystack. So I rented a reverb pedal. I don't remember my old RV2 having spring reverb so thats nice. I had a Boss Reverb, a long discontinued RV2 or 3 which I had for years.

There was room and hall settings as well but too many delay settings. Then the RV5 came out and it had eliminated delay settings entirely but introduced plate, modulation and gate settings. I almost got that but tried the newly introduced RV6. The dynamic is supposed to adjust the reverb depth as you pick but its hardly noticeable. The shimmer is somewhat like the Eventide Crystals pitch shift setting but really only useful for ambient sounds. The usual deeper room and hall reverbs are still there and work brilliantly. A few too many bells and whistles overall but at least the new RV6 incorporates the best of everything from past pedals. I was a bit disappointed with the shimmer function, as it doesn't so much reverb, but more adds the pad sound in the background, which if not used properly can be obnoxious. Otherwise, great pedal.
